I know I owe you a Birth Story. Especially after telling you that it is shocking and dramatic. But, as you can imagine, there has been a lack of time since bring Owen home from the hospital. But, I promise I will write it soon, probably in two installments. I think it will be therapeutic for me to write the story out, so I want to really do it justice. So, please, bear with me, it's coming soon!
In the meantime, let me share a few interesting tidbits...First of all, can I just tell you, postpartum recovery is no joke. I am in a lot of pain and feel like an invalid, but it is really nice to have my body back. Today I went out dressed in a dress and, though I still have a small tummy (maybe 4-6 months pregnant?), I felt so feminine and light and free. Another interesting fact - I made it through my entire pregnancy and labor with no stretch marks and no hemorrhoids (a fear of mine). So that is cause for celebration!! Finally, I made it through the whole pregnancy with no caffeine...today I had a Starbucks mocha that was to die for. Still waiting to have my first glass of wine. I have to figure out breastfeeding rules, etc, before I dive in. When I do, you can bet there will likely be a whole post about how marvelous it was ;)
Anyhow, without further ado, the purpose of this post was to introduce you to Owen and his beautiful personality in order to tide you over until his birth story. So, I leave you with photo evidence of why I am completely in love with him already...
Oh my goodness! He's gorgeous! Thanks for sharing. And I can't wait to hear your birth story!

Wow, what a beautiful little guy. Seems like he's smiling already! though I know that's impossible. Love the pic of him peeking out over (B's?) shoulder. Thanks for sharing, and I look forward to the birth story. Glad you got to enjoy your mocha. :)
ReplyDeleteHe is absolutely beautiful! Congratulations to all of you. Enjoy every moment. :)
ReplyDeleteHe is so beautiful! And I'm totally impressed that you managed to get put together (and in a dress!!) enough to get out already!
ReplyDeleteHe is so handsome!! I am so happy for you :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you got to enjoy some caffeine, I am excited for that myself! I am also impressed that you were out wearing a dress and feeling good so quickly! Good for you!
Congrats!!! What a cutie he is!!!!
ReplyDeleteGaaaaa!!! He's so gorgeous!!! And so so alert. I can't wait for your birth story. In regards to the wine/breast feeding stuff (and TRUST me, I've looked into it...), it takes about 60 minutes for one glass to hit your milk--90 minutes if you have eaten something. The alcohol will stay in the milk as long as it takes to exit your blood stream. If you breast feed right before drinking a glass, you will absolutely be in the clear. I've also bought the test strips from Amazon (I went to Vegas recently, and needed to make sure I wasn't pumping alcoholic milk!) Surprisingly, I drank quite a bit, and most of my milk tested negative for alcohol (I only had to dump one pump). In regards to no stretch marks--YAY!! I will give one cautionary note that they can appear a few weeks after you give birth due to rapid weight loss (I got three very very minor ones under my belly button that popp up about 2 weeks post partum! I had stopped using my stretch mark cream, so maybe keep using any cream or oil on your belly just in case!
ReplyDeleteThis happened to me! I thought by some miracle I had lucked out with no stretch marks and then 2 weeks later they showed up. WTF?
DeleteYou weren't lying - that is one gorgeous little boy! He seems so alert and so calm. And he's a big 'un! Congratulations again!
ReplyDeleteHe is gorgeous! It's so weird to see regular size newborns. He seems so big compared to my tiny preemies.
ReplyDeleteI have been drinking beer since it is supposed to help with milk supply. No more than one a day and if you drink it when or right after feeding it should be out of your system by the next feeding. Drink away! You are going to need it some days. And I am so, so happy to be drinking caffeinated coffee again. It's heavenly :)
Oh he is so cute, I love all those smiles! And I can't wait to read the birth story, and everything you'll want to share with us. Hugs and congratulations again!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie! And I love his outfit, too. That hair is amazing! I mean, Baby M has a ton of hair, too, but I feel like that's more common with dark-haired babies, for some reason. Owen's is great! It's hard to believe such a perfect little guy could have come from a pregnancy with so many scares, but there he is! Good work!
ReplyDeleteHe is adorable!! I'm jealous that you don't have any stretch marks OR hemorrhoids. You are a lucky, lucky woman! Can't wait to read Owen's birth story!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteAWWW, he is gorgeous and perfect!!! Love all that hair, haha. Wishing you well in your recovery, and waiting on pins and needles for that birth story!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, he's so beautiful! Just look at all that hair!!!
ReplyDeletePraying all is well!
